On Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 07:36 hours, Lyons Fire was dispatched to a report of high tension wires down on top of a combine in the area of 165 Leach Rd. Engine 6 took the assignment under the direction of Chief Witt.
Upon Chief Witt’s arrival, a combine was found entangled in high tension power lines with the operator still in the vehicle. The combine caught low hanging wires which pulled the electrical pole down, entangling the vehicle. The operator remained in the combine until NYSE&G safely cut power and removed the wires. The operator was unharmed.
LFD was further assisted on location by the Oaks Corners Fire Department, Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, New York State Police and New York State Electric and Gas. The assignment was back in-service at 08:37 hours.
