On Thursday, July 5, 2007 at 08:28 hours, Lyons Fire was dispatched to a reported structure fire across from 7745 DeBusse Rd, with smoke and fire visible. Engine 7, Engine 3, Truck 1 took the assignment under the direction of Chief Witt and Assistant Chief’s Paliotti, Darcangelis and Rios.
A Wayne County Sheriff Deputy, in the immediate area, arrived on scene and declared a working fire in a two story wood frame located at 7746 Debusse Rd. While responding, Deputy Chief Paliotti reported a “header in the sky”, and Command requested a tanker from Fairville and a fill-in from Newark. While responding, Newark’s assignment was upgraded to R.I.T. which brought in Oaks Corners for the fill-in. Command called for Truck 1 when the roof collapsed, switching to defensive operations and placing the ladder pipe into operation. The fire was declared under control at 09:26 hours bringing in the Wayne County Cause and Origin Team.
LFD was further assisted on location by the Lyons Town Ambulance and the Wayne Co Sheriff’s Department. The assignment was back in-service at 12:30 hours.
