On Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at 17:05 hours, Lyons Fire was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the area of 154 Canal St, with multiple calls received. Engine Co 7, Truck Co 1 took the initial assignment under the direction of Chief Witt and Assistant Chief’s Paliotti, Darcangelis and Rios.
Upon Chief Witt’s arrival, a working fire was declared in a 2 story, brick, multifamily dwelling located at 142 Canal St. Further information was relayed to Command that a victim was pulled from the structure by family members. The victim was transported by Lyons Town Ambulance to the Strong Memorial Burn Unit in Critical Condition. Crews entered the structure and quickly brought the fire under control containing the fire to the apartment of origin. Additional crews entered the adjacent apartments, checked for extension and after finding none, ventilated the structure. The fire was declared under control at 17:17 hours bringing in the Wayne County Cause and Origin Team. LFD Companies on scene: Engine Co 7, Engine Co 6, Truck Co 1, and Rescue Co 3.
LFD was further assisted on location by the Lyons Town Ambulance, Lyons Police Department and the New York State Police. The assignment was back in-service at 20:15 hours.
