At 09:48 hours Sunday morning Lyons Fire and Lyons Ambulance were dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire at the McDonald’s restaurant on Rt 31 in the village. Engine 6 and Truck 1 went en route and reported smoke showing from the restaurant on arrival. Truck 1 was able to lay in a supply line from a hydrant and begin laddering the building while the interior crew on board Engine 6 made a quick attack of a grease fire in the ventilation system. Dry chemical extinguishers were used to put out the fire which had spread to the deep fryers and hood vents. Fire was declared out in less than 20 min from the time the call was received at 911. Lyons had approx 20 members on scene who helped extinguish the fire and ventilate the smoke from the building. All customers and employees were safely evacuated from the building without any injuries and the fire was contained to area of origin. Special thanks to Lyons Town Ambulance, Lyons Police Department and the Wayne County Sheriffs office for assistance on scene.
